ARTICLE 15/10/2025

On October 12, the Croatian Pavilion at the World Exhibition Expo 2025 Osaka was awarded a Silver award in Osaka, as selected by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) based in Paris.

The Croatian Pavilion was awarded in the Shared Pavilion competition, Zone: “Saving lives” for category Theme Development.

The award winners were chosen by members of the BIE international jury, consisting of nine experts from various fields, who visited the pavilions during May and October 2025 before reaching the final decision.

Official awards are given in several categories, depending on the concept and size of the pavilion – from architecture and landscape (for independently built pavilions), through exterior design (for modular pavilions), to exhibition design, theme development and sustainability.

World Exhibition Expo 2025 Osaka is held from 13 April to 13 October 2025 based on the overarching theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. The host city is Osaka, and the exhibition takes place on the artificial island of Yumeshima, which is specially designed for the occasion. More than 160 countries and international organizations are represented at the Expo, which, according to organizers, will be visited by more than 28 million people.

The Republic of Croatia participates with the project „Hrvatska – klimaraznolikost / Croatia – Climadiversity“ developed by the team of authors: Lana Grahek, Maroje Mrduljaš, Antonio Patljak, Korina Vuković and Pero Vuković with associates Petra Bigor, Yujin Jeong and Filip Majcenić and the ARHIV Architecture & Urbanism Ltd.

The Croatian pavilion stands out with its original and interactive concept allowing visitors a unique “live” experience - encounter with the real warmth of different Croatian regions simultaneously and adjusted to the time difference. Thanks to a network of meteorological stations throughout Croatia the pavilion transmits temperature data from multiple locations in real time, which allows the diversity of the Croatian climate to be physically felt and compared - from the coast to the interior. This world innovation combines science, technology and art in an immediate experience of climatic diversity.

The pavilion was made by the Croatian company Enison Ltd. from Zagreb.
